Welcome to a city full of life...

Not only thanks to its location and history, but also thanks to the high level of involvement of citizens in public affairs and its rich social, cultural and social life, Říčany was ranked first in the Deloitte (Municipalities in Data) survey for the sixth time in a row for the best town for living in the Czech Republic.

The cadastre of the town of Říčany includes other historical villages Radošovice, Pacov, Strašín, Kuří, Jažlovice and Voděrádky. At the same time, Říčany provides state administration within the ORP (municipality with extended competence) for a large area of 52 municipalities with an area of 377 km2 and 77,533 inhabitants (2023).

After the Velvet Revolution in 1989, the once peaceful cruise town gained a dynamic pace of growth resulting mainly from its proximity to the capital. In the first decade of the new millennium, Říčany experienced a rapid up rapid building development, which meant not only a dramatic increase in population, but also an increasing lack of infrastructure (roads, water, sewerage, school and pre-school facilities, sports facilities, …) The turning point came in 2010, when with the new leadership at the Říčany Town Hall (headed by Mayor Vladimír Koren), the development of the town was significantly re-evaluated from the extensive population growth and encroachment into the surrounding countryside towards building new infrastructure and improving the quality of life for existing residents.

Gradually and with deliberation, new kindergartens and schools were built, sewers were extended, roads were repaired, public buildings were modernized, parks and forest paths were landscaped, and playgrounds, bike paths and other interesting tourist spots were built. Great emphasis was also placed on the quality of public space and the social and cultural life of the city in general.

K 1. In January 2023, Říčany had a total of 16,775 inhabitants. Thanks to its attractive environment, the green belt around the town and excellent transport accessibility (rail and bus connections, proximity to the D1 motorway and the D0 ring road), young families with children have been moving to Říčany for many years (the average age of the inhabitants is 40.1 years). The large number of children living in the city creates considerable demands on educational facilities – the city already operates 6 kindergartens (3 have been built in the last 7 years) and 4 primary schools. Another new elementary school building with a separate gymnasium and a new park is scheduled to begin construction in the fall of 2023. There are also several private nurseries, playgroups and 3 private schools in the town. There are 2 high schools and a vocational secondary school of catering in the town. In Říčany, you can also attend a primary art school established by the town, several private art schools and several language schools.
