Husova knihovna Říčany

The Hus Library continues the more than 150-year tradition of librarianship in our town, when the first public library was the Readers’ Meeting established in 1868 at the Old Town Hall. After 1. World War II, today’s Hus Library, in addition to its main library activities, was already an organizer of amateur performances, concerts and balls.

Since 2018, the main part of the library (adult section) has been located in the renovated Teršíp House on Masaryk Square, where the beautiful premises of the historic house offer cosy corners for readers. The library’s book collection currently numbers approximately 130,000 books.

Children’s library

A separate children’s section of the Hus Library can be found on Komenský náměstí. In addition to the book loans themselves, there are also events for schools, kindergartens and the general public.

The enchanted garden of the Hus Library

In 2022, the garden behind the passageway of the Teršip House was completely renovated by the city. The citizens thus gained a beautiful new quiet space of the sloping garden, with greenery, new furnishings and especially a beautiful view of the Mill Pond. Next year, the construction of a footbridge on the surface of the pond is planned, which will connect the library with the opposite bank of Kolovratská Street.
